Stingrays

Prerequisite: Dolphins or the ability to swim 25 yards in open water. This program builds rip-current recognition, sighting, and the open-water stamina needed for longer ocean swims.

🎓Prerequisites

Open Water Swimming

Able to swim 25 yards continuously in open water conditions.

Deep Water Confidence

Comfortable treading water for 60 seconds without assistance.

Dive Entry & Breathing

Can execute a proper dive entry and swim with rhythmic breathing and good form.

Passing to the Next Level

  • Spot and safely escape a rip current from the shore and in the water
  • Swim freestyle while lifting the head to sight buoys and landmarks
  • Extend continuous open-water swims up to 50 yards
  • Practice safe entry, exit, and boundary awareness on the sand and in the surf
  • Sight every 6-8 strokes without breaking stroke rhythm
  • Pass a beach safety and hazard-awareness check
