Prerequisite: Stingrays or instructor approval. Our most advanced ocean program covers junior lifeguard prep, rescue basics, and leadership skills for swimmers ready to look out for others in the water.

🎓Prerequisites

Rip Current Awareness

Able to spot and safely escape a rip current from the shore and in the water.

Open-Water Distance

Comfortable swimming continuous open-water distances of 50 yards or more.

Sighting & Navigation

Can sight buoys and landmarks every 6-8 strokes without breaking rhythm.

Passing to the Next Level

  • Lead a full beach safety check and hazard assessment
  • Practice reach, throw, and swim rescue techniques with a partner
  • Build toward a continuous 100-yard open-water swim
  • Run a full mock rescue scenario from spot to save to safe return
  • Demonstrate calm breath control under simulated submersion
  • Pass a junior lifeguard readiness evaluation
